Fashionable Inspiration from the 2022 GRAMMY Awards Red Carpet

Check out our team’s top picks from this year’s GRAMMYs and how they inspired us.

After being postponed from January due to a spike in COVID-19 throughout the country, we were finally able to gather again for music’s biggest night: the GRAMMYs. Trust that the night lived up to its reputation! It truly was both a great night for music and fashion — totally worth the wait.

Coming right off the heels of last week’s Oscars, the GRAMMYs played host to some major celebrities. Emily and Jada, members of Stuller’s Fine Jewelry team, joined me as we scoured the red carpet looking to be inspired. We were not disappointed. While watching stars strut the red carpet, we found several looks that we couldn’t get enough of. Check out our favorite picks from the 2022 GRAMMYs.

Pop of Pink

If you watched any of the red carpet coverage, it wasn’t hard to see that the color of the night was pink. Whether it was subtle pink accents or grand pink statements, you could say we were positively tickled pink!

First time GRAMMY winner Olivia Rodrigo looked stunning with pink accents in both her dress and her jewelry. That made us think of tiny stud earrings and petite dangles set with beautiful Tourmaline, which makes for a perfect touch of color. Female rap artist Saweetie absolutely shined in a two-piece pink dress and opera gloves. For such an eye-catching look, we thought of matching pink Tourmaline rings and earrings.

The inspiration didn’t stop there. Justin Bieber, Trevor Noah, Billy Porter, Chrissy Teigen, and Tinashe all sported their own pink looks. We hope you are just as inspired as we were.

Bold and Black

You’ve heard the phrase, “Every woman needs a little black dress.” Well, we’d like to add black accessories to that motto. Billie Eilish is always a notable icon on the red carpet with style we absolutely love. The seasoned GRAMMY recipient knows how to take the neutral color and create a bold statement.

With Billie’s all-black attire, we were inspired to pair two sets of earrings together to create a beautiful black gemstone ear stack. With an Onyx heart stud earring and an Onyx and diamond spike earring, you can create a stunning fashion statement.

Heavy Metal

Metal caught our attention at the GRAMMYs and not just the music. GRAMMY award-winning singer Dua Lipa showed us that paring chain with other shining gold statements to create a metal-intensive look just screams fashionable. Chunky bracelet and necklace stacks created an industrial aesthetic that is incredibly modern and chic.

Metal is clearly a hero here and we wanted to create pairings that showcase the style. Start with a couple of our popular chains and then add some of our newest metal fashion rings that create beautiful statements, particularly in yellow gold.

“Something inspiring about metal jewelry is that it creates the perfect foundation to a personal jewelry collection! Definitely easy to build upon. My first jewelry pieces were all metal due to its versatility.”

Chain on Chain

Speaking of metal fashion, let’s talk about one of our favorite trends: chain. Not only are we talking chain, but we are obsessing over chain on even more chain. Music legend Lenny Kravitz made waves with a look that brings chain to a whole different level. Not only did he layer multiple styles of chain necklaces and bracelets, but he also wore a shirt made entirely of chain.

While wearing articles of clothing made of chain might be a tad too much for most people, our takeaway from this look is to find outstanding chain styles that make a statement, such as a curb scarf necklace or curb chain bracelet.

Glittering and Gold

When diamonds meet yellow gold, everything just feels right. Comedienne Tiffany Haddish made sure all eyes were on her in a gold sequined dress and matching diamond and gold jewelry. Lights from camera flashes and the venue itself added even more sparkle, highlighting that she was an absolute vision.

To shine like a true star deserves, we simply had to find a pairing of our favorite diamond pieces set in yellow gold.

Blooming Boys

Men are being influenced by the recent obsession with nature-inspired fashion. Sculptural details, floral accents, and emblems of nature are really helping to elevate the core essentials in men’s fashion. Young artists like Lil Nas X and Giveon were excellent examples of taking these elements and showing them off in new ways.

While we know that it isn’t exactly groundbreaking to see florals in spring, we were inspired by a men’s fashion approach in choosing these pieces.

“You can really see how male celebrities are spotlighting men’s jewelry styles on the red carpet. While a simple gold band, a chain, and even a stud earring are core staples for men’s fashion, I’m noticing celebrities push it even more with the details included in the jewelry as well as the interesting layers they create.”

Very Peri Fashion

It came as no surprise that this year’s Pantone® Color of the Year — Very Peri — made an appearance on the red carpet. Hues of purple created a stunning color palette on celebrities like Finneas O’Connell and members of BTS. This floral, springtime tone really stood out and felt perfect for the season.

“Purples of all kinds are making me smile. From Finneas’ muted purple look to the bold purple florals within the GRAMMY table centerpieces, this is one hue I can’t help but be inspired by. Rose gold pieces set with purple stones are one way to show off this regal palette.”
Emily Graffagnino
Fine Jewelry Senior Director

Try setting the following styles with either Tanzanite or Amethyst to create a Very Peri color pairing fit for the red carpet.

That’s a wrap on this year’s GRAMMY Awards! With every red carpet event comes a wave of inspiration. We love looking through our fine jewelry assortment and finding the perfect pieces that are inspired by our favorite celebrities. Everyone loves good fashion inspiration. Create your own pairings inspired by the stars and be sure to share your thoughts.
