Guess what? We’re on the heels of discovering Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year! So we’re wondering—which color affects your attitude the most?
Without even realizing it, we naturally associate color with emotion. Did you know color affects your attitude, too? Color resonates with everyone differently and elicits different emotional reactions from people. Do the phrases feeling blue or green with envy ring any bells? Do you gravitate toward bright yellows and electric oranges when you’re feeling happy? Why do we wear black when we’re feeling mournful?
Here are a few common instances where color affects your attitude:
Rev your engine with red
Looking for more energy? Hoping to increase your enthusiasm, but want to feel safe and sound too? Then reds like Ruby and Mozambique Garnet are the colors you’re seeking. According to color authorities, red encourages action and confidence to go after your dreams.
Green grants balance to your life
If you’re in the mood for change, you may find yourself moving toward more greens like Emerald and Peridot. Greenery, last year’s Color of the Year, promised growth and prosperity to the masses. Green gives freedom to pursue new ideas and protection from anxieties connected to worldly demands.
Attract tranquility with blue hues
Peace, relaxation, and serenity are all synonymous with the way one feels wearing blues like Blue Sapphire and Aquamarine. The color is known for giving off a calm and relaxing vibe that counteracts chaos. It also broadens your perspective in learning new information.
Pink is for the passionate
This one’s a no-brainer. Lovey-dovey feelings are most commonly associated with pinks like Pink Sapphire, Pink Tourmaline, and Morganite. The color zaps away disorder and replaces it with acceptance and contentment.
Feeling mysterious? Choose purple
Do you enjoy using your imagination to the fullest? Then seek purples like Tanzanite and Amethyst. In addition to its mystical association, purple also helps to rebalance life, remove obstacles, and energize.
Energize with orange
Spice things up! Throw some oranges like Citrine and topaz into the mix. Orange hues increase creativity and give us relief when things start getting too serious. They can also give you the confidence to become more involved.
Wave your white flag
A blank slate. A clean sheet of paper. Whites like Pearl and White Sapphire are most closely associated with fresh beginnings. Wearing white is known to help clear clutter and bring mental clarity to situations. It’s also a pure color, cleansing thoughts and actions.
So which color affects your attitude the most? As I mentioned at the start, color affects everyone differently. Some may identify with the color associations presented here, while others may not.
