Stuller Is a Certified Great Place To Work®

Discover how Stuller received its Great Place To Work® Certification™.

Companies all over the world, no matter the industry, all have one common goal in mind — to be such a great place to work that people are proud to be part of it. Here at Stuller, that sentiment holds true. Our team has been on a journey to greatness for the last several years with an aspiration of being the best place to work in the Acadiana area — and beyond. From creating company-wide celebrations and offering various groups for educational growth to implementing continual requests for honest feedback and encouraging community engagement, Stuller has put in efforts to make all employees feel included and heard in the workplace. With our focus on our employee experience, we wanted to gain even more insight from our employees about what areas we are succeeding in and where we could improve.

Thus began our quest to be an official Great Place To Work®.

Great Place To Work®

As the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and leadership excellence, Great Place To Work® has been studying employees for more than 30 years. Their mission is to help every business become a great place to work for all — with a reach of more than 18 million employees, 18,000 companies, and spanning 70 countries.

The Great Place To Work® Certification™ recognizes employers who create an outstanding employee experience. This certification is determined based on a two-step process involving an employee survey and a workforce questionnaire. The survey focuses on five core areas to assess and recognize great workplaces: credibility, camaraderie, fairness, pride, and respect.

Already on our own journey to greatness, we were eager to reach out to Great Place To Work® to begin the process to achieve our certification.

Embarking on Greatness

To obtain certification, we were assigned a Great Place To Work® consultant to work with our human resources team. A plan was developed to promote the Trust Index Survey and communicate its purpose to all employees. Furthermore, a detailed culture brief was created to outline Stuller’s background, current workplace culture, and key objectives. The survey — comprised of 60 question statements — was then launched, giving employees an allotted amount of time to complete it. After completion, our consultant reviewed the survey results with our team where we were given best practices and actionable insights from Great Place To Work® based on industry standards.

Simply having employees complete the survey would not result in being certified. The certification requires 7 out of 10 employees to report a consistently great experience with approximately 40–60% employees completing the survey. Simply put, the results had to show that a majority of our employees are happy with the environment they experience here at Stuller day in and day out.

We are proud to say those requirements were met, and our road to greatness continues to push onward.

Becoming Great Place To Work® Certified™

On average, 57% of employees say their employer is a great place to work. Based on the results of the Trust Index Survey, 78% of employees at Stuller say it is a great place to work, putting our company 21% above the typical U.S.-based company.

To say we are proud to be officially announced as Great Place To Work® Certified™ is an understatement. Since 1970 when Matt Stuller started it all, Stuller has been powered by our employees, their creativity, their energy, and their commitment to creating exceptional experiences. This certification speaks to the amount of effort that has been put into nurturing that culture.

Receiving the Great Place To Work® certification is a tremendous honor and a testament to the incredible culture we’ve cultivated here at Stuller. What truly makes Stuller a great place to work is the dedication, passion, and positive spirit that each of our 1,500 employees brings to work each day.

One of the biggest takeaways from this entire process is hearing what our employees have to say about where they work. Hearing their feedback and seeing where our strengths lie is invaluable to continue fostering a culture people are proud to be a part of.

We are thrilled to be recognized as a company where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to do their best work. We believe that our employee initiatives over the past few years, such as Stuller S.E.R.V.E. and Stuller Cares™, have significantly contributed to creating a positive and engaging work environment.

Vice President of Human Resources

A Great Future Ahead

With this newly acquired certification, our team is eager to continue the work necessary to keep Stuller a great place to work and improve even further. As next steps, our team will work with our Great Place To Work® consultant and culture coaching team to deep dive into all of the survey results and help create an action plan that will allow us to tackle the areas where we can improve. This in-depth analysis will allow us to determine which programs should continue and which programs may not be meeting the desired expectations.

With this knowledge, we will be able to put resources where they’re needed most. Stuller is committed to creating a workplace that inspires pride and satisfaction in our employees. Although the certification is a wonderful benchmark, the work begins now!
