Social Media Trends for 2022: A Guide to Social Success

Five social media trends you should follow to excel in the social world this year.

While new social media trends can become popular overnight, it’s tricky to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of the social world. While you’re busy focusing on making your business the best it can be, let us help by giving you some tips on what’s trending in the social media world. Today, we are going to take a look into the social media trends for 2022 to help keep you on the top of your social game!

1. TikTok Will Only Keep Growing

TikTok has become THE platform. Since it skyrocketed to fame during the height of the pandemic, it has quickly dominated the social media world. The great thing about Tiktok is that there is something for everyone. Every user’s feed or “for you page” feeds them specific topics that the algorithm hand-picked based on their engagement habits.

If there are already so many creators on the platform, then what should I create?

Great question! A good rule of thumb is to create the content you wish to see. With over 1 billion users currently on TikTok, chances are that someone else wants to see the exact content you are creating.

What’s the best way to tackle the algorithm?

Post frequently! This is true for almost every platform but especially for Tiktok. The more you post, the more the algorithm will serve your content to other users.

2. Utilizing Social Media For Customer Service

While it’s no surprise that social media platforms are a great way to build customer relations, it’s only going to become more prominent as we go into 2022. Make sure to have someone dedicated to answering any questions that come through social media. This is the easiest way for your customers to reach you and more than likely the most efficient for them. It is important to answer their questions intentionally and with customer service in mind. Remember, this may be their first interaction with your company, so you want to make sure it’s a great one!

3. Video Content Continues to Dominate

Short-term video content filmed in a vertical landscape is exactly what is catching your followers’ attention. With new and interesting platforms adapting this style of content (ie. TikTok, Pinterest) it is becoming increasingly popular everywhere. So next time you go to take a photo for your feed, try taking a video instead!

4. Don't Forget About User-Generated Content

One of my favorite social media trends is user-generated content (or UGC). These are organic photos that customer’s take using your product. If you ever get tagged in these, be sure to repost them! It is a great way to include faces on your feed (and humanize it!) as well as show off your happy customers. If you aren’t getting these organically, try to run a promotion or include a handwritten card in your customer’s next order.

Here are a few ideas to increase your organic UGC:

  • Encourage your customers to take a photo with their recent purchase and tag you. Offer 10% off their next purchase or include them twice in a drawing for your next giveaway.
  • Don’t underestimate the power of a handwritten note! Include one in your next sale telling your customer how grateful you are for their purchase and ask them to share a picture if they are loving it.

5. "No Filter" is the New Filter

You heard that right, no filter is the new filter. Authenticity should be at top of mind when it comes to your social media following. Your followers want to see the real deal and don’t want to see heavily edited photos on their feed. Simple as that.

We are gearing up for a Q&A style social media blog and would love to help answer your questions! Please email any social media-related questions to social@stuller.com with ‘Social Media Blog Post’ as the subject line so we can be sure to include them.
