Meet Katelynne Eslick: 2023 March Bridal Madness Winner

Get to know this year's winner of March Bridal Madness.

The 2023 winner of our annual March Bridal Madness contest is Katelynne Eslick, owner of Sugar Plum Fine Jewelry in Glendive, Montana. Katelynne is a third-generation jewelry store owner with a love for custom jewelry! Learn more about Katelynne and her inspiration for her winning design below.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into the jewelry industry.

I’m Kate, owner and head designer at Sugar Plum Fine Jewelry. My husband Jayson is our goldsmith, and my sister Talia is an instrumental part of our team as well, so our store is a family effort. I’m one of nine children and third generation in the jewelry business (my sister and I are the only two who ended up in the jewelry business). My grandfather was a watchmaker, my father was a goldsmith and retail jeweler, and my specialty is design. Each generation has had their own specialty. My family’s retail jewelry store closed when I was a young child, and I opened my own store about 10 years ago.

My main focus has always been custom jewelry. Before I opened my store, I worked from home hand-making more simple designs (such as stamped silver pendants), and as my business has evolvedmoving from the kitchen table to a storefront, and soon to our own freestanding location my focus has remained on custom design.

So, what's the story behind the winning design?

This particular ring was inspired by the great architectural and symbolic details of India’s Taj Mahal — regarded as one of the world’s most classic symbols of love. I designed this ring to echo the iconic dome shape, as well as include the important symbolism of the lotus flower. Designing this ring in rose gold echoes the red sandstone construction of the Taj Mahal’s main entrance, and the center pear-shaped London Blue Topaz references the famous reflecting pool or the “Pool of Abundance”.

Outside of jewelry design, what are your other interests and hobbies?

When I’m not working, I love traveling! My three kids are teenagers now Griffin, 17; twins Lily and Chloe, 15 so I love to soak up time with them and experience new places as a family. One of our favorite trips ever was to Belize! I‘m also a wine enthusiast and enjoy hosting small wine tastings with my closest friends.

Congratulations on your winning design, Katelynne!
