Finding Inspiration: Modified Shanks and Settings

Simple product modifications create customized bridal pieces

As a jeweler, one of the most important things you can do is provide your customer with a piece that is unique and catered to their specific style. As we kick off Stuller’s March Bridal Madness, we wanted to spark your inspiration with how we have curated our findings collections to include modifications on similar styles so you can find exactly what you need for your customer. Customization is key when creating one-of-a-kind engagement rings. Giving your customer that customization factor is made so much easier when you have options.

Finding Inspiration seeks inspire the designer in every jeweler and connects the pieces that bring out the creativity in artisans and designers throughout the jewelry industry. We want to help you create unique and personalized pieces for your customer using Stuller findings. By looking at the variations within our shanks and settings, you are one step away from building your own branded line of engagement rings.

Modifications of a Simple Shank

What do we mean when talking about these modifications and variations within the findings line? Let’s begin with a simple diamond accented peg shank (SH447). There is so much you can do with this ring, such as adding a preferred setting and pairing it with the perfect band. But before we look at those finishing touches, decide if that shank is what you want.

If you like the simple and classic design of the accented shank, but are looking for a different profile or detail, there are options. The findings line carries variations of this design in rope (SH861), milgrain (SH858), knife edge (SH859), flat (SH870), and half-round (SH810). We are making it easy for jewelers to offer customization by developing product with the same geometry but slight design modifications to fit different customers’ wants and needs.

Modifications of a Simple Setting

Now that you’ve thought about what kind of shank you want to start with, consider what settings fit the design preferences of your customer. Just like the shanks, we are expanding upon our best-selling settings to include more shapes, sizes, and new design elements.

Keeping with a simple design, begin with a sculptural-inspired peg setting (28487). We have developed other settings based on this sculptural design to include a claw prong version (29228), a version with a gallery rail (2000475), a claw prong and gallery rail version (2000340), and a version with an accented gallery rail (2000365).

By mixing and matching these styles, you can not only create a personalized piece, but potentially your own branded line of engagement rings! There is so much more you can do with findings to modify similar styles and create something new. Get started at Stuller.com/Findings!
