The Spark That Started It All

Matt Stuller was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and from a young age, he was drawn to craftsmanship and service. As a junior in high school, he took an afterschool job with a local jeweler — an experience that quickly evolved from part-time work into a passion for jewelry as well as those who provided cherished pieces that last. By his senior year, Matt had launched his own business from a corner office in his father’s orthodontic suite.

At just 19 years old, Matt developed his first wholesale line of findings and began traveling across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas, building relationships with jewelers and listening closely to their needs. He quickly recognized a major gap in the industry: slow delivery times and inconsistent service were holding jewelers back. Inspired by the values he learned as an Eagle Scout — integrity, preparedness, and service — Matt built his business around a simple but powerful philosophy: deliver quality merchandise with exceptional service — and do it fast.

Armed with determination and a trunk full of findings in his Nissan 240Z, Matt hit the road. He wasn’t just selling products. He was building trust. That spirit of entrepreneurial grit and customer-first thinking laid the foundation for what would become Stuller, a company rooted in reliability, innovation, and care.

In the early days, Stuller introduced toll-free ordering — one of the first in the industry to do so — to make it easier and more affordable for jewelers to get what they needed. This simple yet impactful move helped strengthen customer relationships and streamline the ordering process.

1982 | Next-Day Delivery

Stuller revolutionized service expectations in the industry by offering next-day delivery. This commitment to speed and reliability became a cornerstone of our promise to support jewelers with just-in-time inventory.

1988 | The Beginning of Product and Service Expansion

The addition of diamonds and gemstones to our inventory in the 1980s marked a major turning point in our product offering. It allowed us to become a more comprehensive resource for jewelers, supporting everything from design to delivery and leading the way to further expansion in the future.

With the launch of Stuller.com, we brought our full catalog and services online, empowering jewelers to browse, order, and manage their business anytime, anywhere. It was a bold step into the digital age that continues to evolve today.

2001 | Growth of Global Headquarters

Our headquarters in Lafayette, Louisiana, has grown to more than 600,000 square feet, reflecting decades of investment and development. This space supports everything from manufacturing and fulfillment to customer care and technology development.

2009 | Gemvision Acquisition

By acquiring Gemvision, we brought powerful design technology and CAD solutions into the Stuller suite. This move strengthened our ability to support custom jewelry creation and digital design workflows.

2012 | Launch of Customizable 3C Designs

The introduction of 3C customizable mountings gave jewelers a new level of flexibility and control. With this tool, they can tailor mountings by choosing the center stone size, shape, and type as well as metal quality and color all with the click of a button on Stuller.com.

2017 | B&D Sales and Service Acquisition

Acquiring B&D Sales and Service expanded our capabilities in tools and equipment. It allowed us to better serve bench jewelers and repair professionals with specialty laser equipment and experienced service skills.

2018 | Strategic Service Agreement With GIA®

Stuller entered into a strategic service arrangement with GIA (Gemological Institute of America), which is a separate entity from Stuller while being housed at our global headquarters. It’s staffed by GIA specialists who use GIA’s proprietary technology to perform their work. This arrangement has underscored our commitment to transparency, trust, and quality.

2019 | RJC Certification

Achieving the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Certification affirmed our dedication to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and responsible business practices. It’s a reflection of our values and our role as a leader in the industry.

2025 | 55th Anniversary
