A Stuller Ring Story: Blake and Morgan

The platinum design with a three-stone setting is a stunner and paired with two matching bands.

The process of picking out the perfect engagement ring is extremely personal and different for every couple. Some brides pick out their own ring, while others are completely surprised by what their soon-to-be-fiancé chooses. But there is another way: building fully customized rings with a custom jeweler. That is exactly what Blake and Morgan did with the help of Stuller’s CAD/CAM services

This year on the blog, we are celebrating Stuller’s Year of the Wedding™ by highlighting stunning engagement rings and the Stuller associates who wear them. This is Blake and Morgan’s story.

‘I want something completely different.’

Morgan did not want to be involved in designing her ring, but she did give her future husband Blake some guidelines. They browsed styles together at multiple jewelers, but as the Bridal Director at Stuller at the time, she felt that she had seen everything.

Morgan wanted something completely different than she had seen before. One thing she did not want were common stone shapes– no round or princess cut diamonds.

Blake had so many options from metal type, center stone shape and size to personal details that only they would know about. The options were endless, but it all started with a set of sketches (see below). Blake knew Morgan was interested in a classic three-stone ring, but she was open to different designs on the shank.

One style he considered was a French-set eternity style that would have been paired with matching wedding bands (sketch #5).

In the end, he chose a platinum design with a three-stone setting (sketch #2) with a 3.02 carat marquise cut diamond center and Cadillac cut diamonds on either side. The ring features diamond accents on the gallery rails.

The unique shaped Cadillac cut diamonds in the ring were custom ordered, a service also offered by Stuller. Some jewelers choose to review stones so they can be hand-picked by the customer during an in-person design session.

Custom Created Band for Blake

Blake’s wedding band was also custom and the finish they picked is what sets it apart from others. The platinum flat comfort fit band has satin and rock finishes. It exudes style and tells the story of a guy who is both refined and strong. A smaller band with the same satin and rock finish was also made. Morgan wears it alongside her diamond wedding band.

The Proposal

Blake and Morgan’s proposal was simple and down to Earth. Morgan got home from work on a weekday afternoon and they were planning to go to the gym together. Blake reminded her to go out to her car to grab clothes for the gym. When she walked back in, Blake was down on one knee. Morgan now says he was so pale from nerves that she made him stand up immediately. She said yes! It turns out a workout was never going to happen. Blake had arranged family and friends to be on-hand for a dinner to celebrate. They would be married at a resort in Mexico the next year.
