The 2019 MET Gala Jewelry Trends: Our Official Style Report

The 2019 MET Gala was a major success. The invite-only affair is held annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Anna Wintour, Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, coordinates the event while this year’s co-chairs were Harry Styles, Serena Williams, Lady Gaga, and Alessandro Michele.

Camp: Notes on Fashion

The theme this year was Camp: Notes on Fashion. It embraced—

  • Extravagance
  • Out-of-the-box fashion
  • Being extraordinary
  • Over-the-top flamboyance
  • Excess
  • Exaggeration

Luckily for us, this gave way for a stunning run on the red carpet. Not only did the A-listers wear incredible jewelry, but most had jewels fused right into their ensembles (see Bella Hadid).

Here’s a recap of our favorite 2019 MET Gala jewelry trends and how they can translate into sales.

Harry Styles • 8 Rings

In line with the more-is-more theme, Harry Styles wore a handful of rings . . . literally. He also donned a single pearl drop earring by Gucci. His look exuded individuality. And with Father’s Day right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to push personalized signet rings.

Lady Gaga IS camp fashion. The international pop star has been pulling over-the-top red carpet stunts for years now. This year was no different. She changed her outfit four times in a matter of minutes. And as the face of Tiffany & Co., Lady Gaga sported nearly $2 million worth of jewelry. Her show-stopping butterfly diamond necklace featured dozens of oval diamonds— a big trend in the jewelry scene. Offer stacked oval stones similar to those shown below.

Ryan Murphy’s ensemble reportedly weighed over 100 pounds and was inspired by Liberace’s flamboyant looks. He was draped in a cloak of pearls and he looked amazing! Yet again, we’re reminded that pearl fashion is a mainstay on the red carpet. Take a hint from Ryan and stock daring pearl designs in your store.
